Ben was born in Great Falls Montana and grew up on a farm near Geraldine, Montana. He
attended Geraldine public schools and graduated high school in 1949. He then went to the
University of Montana and graduated in 1953 with a BA degree and a commission as a Second
Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He was called to active duty and served one year in Korea, then
in the active reserve until his retirement in the grade of Colonel in 1986.

After returning from Korea, Ben operated the family farm and also attended law school fall and
winter quarters until his graduation from the University of Denver in 1960 with a Juris Doctorate
degree and a position as an associate in a Denver law firm.

Ben practiced law in Colorado State and Federal Courts up through the U.S. Supreme Court for 44
years. He relocated to Mesquite, Nevada where he retired from active law practice in 2004. He
them continued to serve as an Arbitrator in Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, Utah and Nevada until
illness forced him to fully retire in 2009. During his law career Ben was General Counsel for the
Consolidated Mutual Water Company, which served over 85,000 people in the west Denver
suburbs. He also briefly served as a Special Colorado Administrative Law Judge. Ben was active
in Bar Associations at all levels; he served as Chairman of the Colorado Council of School
Attorneys and two terms as chairman of the National Council of School Attorneys. He received
the prestigious Colorado Water Buffalo award in 2004. Ben was also a U.S. delegate to the
Legal-Trade Conference with the Government of China in Beijing, and a delegate to a meeting of
the International Association of Labor Law and Social Security in Madrid, Spain. On another
occasion he was a guest of the Government of Israel.

Ben enjoys traveling with his wife Jeanne and has visited over 70 countries and took over 35
cruises. He enjoyed many fishing, hunting and horseback riding trips in Colorado, Wyoming and
Montana. He has been or is currently an active member in the following clubs; University Club of
Denver, The Army Navy Club of Washington D.C., The Marine's Memorial Club of San Francisco,
the Sunrise Rotary Club of Mesquite, Nevada, a 32nd degree Mason, a Trustee Emeritus of the
University of Montana Foundation, and the Grizzly Riders International.
